Fundamentals of Power System Protection
Power System Protection is a fascinating subject. A protection scheme in a power system is designed to continuously monitor the power system to ensure maximum continuity of electrical supply with minimum damage to life, equipment, and property. While designing the protective schemes, one has to understand the fault characteristics of the individual power system elements. One should also be knowledgeable about the tripping characteristics of various protective relays. The job of the protection engineer is to devise such schemes where closest possible match between the fault characteristics and the tripping characteristics is obtained. The design has to ensure that relays will detect undesirable conditions and then trip to disconnect the area affected, but remain restrained at all other times. However, there is statistical evidence that a large number of relay trippings are due to improper or inadequate settings than due to genuine faults. It is therefore necessary that students should be equipped with sound concepts of power system protection to enable them to handle unforeseen circumstances in real life.

This book gives an introduction to cybersecurity for people who would like to know more about the security risks which arise in the modern IT world, where computers and many other electronic devices communicate with one another through networks. The detailed requirements for cybersecurity vary from one application area to another, but in general terms are a matter of achieving some simple aims: that data must not be read, modified, deleted or made unavailable by persons who are not allowed to. Achievment of such aims is a multidisciplinary challenge, as an IT system consists of both hardware, software andhumanusers, allofwhichcancontributetothesuccess or failure of efforts to maintain cybersecurity. In this book we therefore look at the most common, both technical and non-technical, ways in which cybersecurity may be threatened, at how you can protect yourself against such threats, and how to deal with situations where this protection fails.

Fundamentals of Electronics: Electronic Devices and Circuit Applications (Book 1)
This book, Electronic Devices and Circuit Application, is the first of four books of a larger work, Fundamentals of Electronics. It is comprised of four chapters describing the basic operation of each of the four fundamental building blocks of modern electronics: operational amplifiers, semiconductor diodes, bipolar junction transistors, and field effect transistors. Attention is focused on the reader obtaining a clear understanding of each of the devices when it is operated in equilibrium. Ideas fundamental to the study of electronic circuits are also developed in the book at a basic level to lessen the possibility of misunderstandings at a higher level. The difference between linear and non-linear operation is explored through the use of a variety of circuit examples including amplifiers constructed with operational amplifiers as the fundamental component and elementary digital logic gates constructed with various transistor types. Fundamentals of Electronics has been designed primarily for use in an upper division course in electronics for electrical engineering students. Typically such a course spans a full academic years consisting of two semesters or three quarters. As such, Electronic Devices and Circuit Applications, and the following two books, Amplifiers: Analysis and Design and Active Filters and Amplifier Frequency Response, form an appropriate body of material for such a course. Secondary applications include the use in a one-semester electronics course for engineers or as a reference for practicing engineers.

Business Process Management (BPM) is the art and science of overseeing how work is performed in an organization to ensure consistent outcomes and to take advantage of improvement opportunities. In this context, the term “improvement” may take different meanings depending on the objectives of the organization. Typical examples of improvement objectives include reducing costs, reducing execution times, and reducing error rates, but also gaining competitive advantage through innovation. Improvement initiatives may be one-off or of a continuous nature; they may be incremental or radical. Importantly, BPM is not about improving the way individual activities are performed. Rather, it is about managing entire chains of events, activities, and decisions that ultimately add value to the organization, and its customers. These chains of events, activities, and decisions are called processes.

Introduction to Antennas and RF Propagation Analysis
Discussion of signal loss continues in this chapter first with the discussion of antenna feedline losses at both the transmit and receive ends of the RF/MW transmission-reception system. It also continues with the discussion of losses that can be suffered through the misalignment of linear antenna polarization orientation, the left/right cross-orientation of circularly polarized antennas, or the unadvised use of a linear antenna on the one end and a circularly polarized antenna at the other.
