Je peux bien le dire aujourd’hui : j’ai toujours été un gogo. Aussi loin que je me souvienne, j’ai toujours été la cible rêvée des vendeurs, quêteurs et solliciteurs de toute espèce. Certes, les mobiles de ces gens n’étaient pas toujours inavouables. Certains d’entre eux – représentants d’organisations charitables par exemple – avaient les meilleures intentions du monde. Il n’empêche. Avec une régularité inquiétante, je me suis vu prendre des abonnements à des revues qui ne m’intéressaient pas ou des billets pour le bal des éboueurs. C’est sans doute cette longue expérience de victime qui m’a poussé à m’intéresser à la persuasion : quels sont les facteurs qui poussent un individu à accepter une proposition ? Et quelles sont les techniques les plus efficaces pour amener ce consentement ? Comment se fait-il qu’une requête formulée d’une certaine façon soit rejetée alors que, formulée d’une autre façon, elle sera satisfaite ?

This book series addresses the causes, dynamics and understandings of global urban transformation in the twenty-first century. We live in an era when numerically the greatest number of people moving to cities are in the parts of the globe normally characterised as the global south. It is also the case that in recent years much of the most interesting, innovative and insightful work around contemporary urbanisms has addressed the global condition through a disposition that speaks internationally both from and to this new cartography.

Intégration scolaire et pratiques pédagogiques

A partir d’une recherche bibliographique internationale, d’études de cas réalisées dans 15 pays européens, de visites d’experts menées dans sept pays et de diverses discussions faisant intervenir des experts et les partenaires de travail de l’Agence, un certain nombre d’idées centrales concernant le développement de classes inclusives ou intégrantes1 ont été identifiées. Il serait impossible et même naïf pour les législateurs, les professionnels et les praticiens de prendre ces résultats au pied de la lettre. De nombreux chemins mènent à Rome et de la même façon, des adaptations au contexte local et régional sont toujours nécessaires. Ces résultats peuvent au mieux être considérés comme des stratégies possibles pour améliorer l’intégration dans les écoles. De plus, les rapports sur les études de cas et les rapports des visites réalisées fournissent des exemples de mise en oeuvre de ces stratégies.

This book is the product of several undergraduate courses and seminars I have taught during the last few years about conversion, urbanization, pilgrimage, and migra- tion in the Middle East. Five Theories in Social Work

Like many professions, social work draws on received ideas from social and human science disciplines. The book is structured around five major theoretical perspectives for social work, these are: Psychodynamic Theory, Interactional Theory, Learning Theory, Conflict Theory, and Systems Theories. Oltedal and Hutchinson provide informative insights into the influence of towering thinkers in psychology and social sciences including Freud, Marx, Mead, Goffman, Mead and Bronfenbrenner as well as the influence of influential social workers such as Jane Addams, Mary Richmond and Helen Harris Perlman on social work today. Oltedal and Hutchinson show how the work of these pioneers is drawn on and creatively adapted in diverse contexts of social work practice. The authors also consider how different theoretical frameworks give rise to specific practice approaches and possibilities. For example, in this book we learn how conflict traditions have given rise to certain possibilities for community work practice and how systems perspectives have supported developments in family work methods.

La démarche qui nous avait guidés lors de la parution de ce modeste ouvrage, en 2007, était de décliner les différentes formes qu’avait prises le djihad au cours des âges. En effet, le djihad, cette notion essentielle de la religion musulmane, était, déjà, devenu un des sujets favoris des médias occidentaux et, en tant que tel, était perçu d’une manière extrêmement parcellaire par rapport à sa vraie nature. En fait, ce djihad contemporain n’était que le dernier avatar d’une longue liste d’utilisations, parfois contradictoires, qui ont été faites de son concept. À travers les siècles, ce dernier a, en effet, été adapté par tous les puissants et leurs opposants, les théoriciens de la guerre, les théologiens prosélytes… au besoin de leur cause ou de leur vision du monde.
