Our gardens present floral elements of the Himalayas, the northeastern belt, the river deltas, the montane and sub-montane tracts of north and central India, the southern plateau, the littoral regions and the western and eastern ghats.

Much is known about the southwestern Australian flora. The impetus for preparing this book was the need to compile this vast knowledge base into one publication. We would like to thank members of the Department of Environment and Agriculture (and its predecessor the Department of Environmental Biology), Curtin University, Western Australia, for their support and encouragement during the writing phase, especially Professors Jonathan Majer and Jacob John.
